[info]allisondawn
I woke up late today, it was so dumb. I need to learn to either not fall asleep on the couch every night (poor Dave, all alone) or to set the alarm so I stop getting up at all hours of the afternoon.

SO YEAH. I was supposed to be at [info]starmatter's place at 1PM for shenanigans, but I woke up at 6 minutes to and had a bit of a panic after groaning and "STUPID, STUPID, STUPID"-ing myself while I threw the covers off and made a mad dash to get out the door.

Eventually made it there and had a lot of fun. It was my first time having an outing in... wow, I don't even know how long. It's my first time over at a friend's place in well over a year now, so it was definitely a welcome change of pace. Plus, she lives about a ten minute walk STRAIGHT down the street Dave and I live on, so it's not a bother in the least. Plus, I got to meet her boyfriend and her kitty (another Juniper!), which was great. Not only are they great people to chill out with, but it feels really good to talk to people about WoW. I know that's a super nerdy thing to say, but it is a big ol' hobby of mine and Dave's, so it's cool to have people know what is what and not feel all awkward when it's so much as mentioned.

I was introduced to Doctor Who, which I have really enjoyed thus far -- and have introduced Meagan to Firefly, which I think she enjoys too. All that's left is to coerce Lisa into playing WoW with us (lol, maybe not really... MAYBE).

When I got home from Meagan's place today Dave was standing outside (he had only just gotten home - I have the only key) and he was SUPER PISSED OFF. Not because he wasn't let in, but because I hadn't been home to answer his calls all day and he thought I was dead. We've had this problem before, when our phone is being dumb, so it's been discussed that if I don't hear from him I should throw him a call and leave a message during the day. I didn't do this because I felt so certain that he was clear that I was going to be out with a friend for the day.

Turns out I likely hadn't actually said anything concrete about that (I was dead tired when he woke me up to say goodbye this morning), but he did see the directions I wrote down to Meagan's place and I had groggily explained it partially... so it was an honest miscommunication and the whole 'being mad' thing stopped pretty abruptly with snuggles.

We were at Dave's company picnic last weekend, and the two of us were charged with face painting for the kids! We practiced on one another first... so I had a mustache and Dave had a cat head shape and two paw prints on his forehead. The best part of this story is that he sunburned really badly and STILL has the cat head shape on his forehead.

It's really hard to take anything he says seriously right now, even if he's mad.

We did discuss me getting a cell phone after the oh-god-is-Allison-dead fiasco though, haha. Which would be nice, since I want to spend more time out of the house with my new goilfwiends and meeting other people and generally just not sitting around on my ass all day or sleeping until 4PM. Perhaps when/if we go out shopping with Lisa this Sunday afternoon we can look into getting me one.

I hope Lisa will let me talk her into buying her that dress she wanted to get for her birthday party. She needs to learn that I love spoiling my friends and get used to it, damn it. :x

Oh oh oh, I think Dave said we're going on a canoe trip this Saturday. I hope I heard him right -- that sounds totally rad.

Okay, it's almost 4AM and I need to do laundry before I can sleep. Time to go.

OH GOD YES.

YES.

YES.

YES.

YES.

This is my favorite game in the world.

lzdkjfklahhgjdkdhkdfgklhjkghklaj.

But wtf is this hint system? LAME. Back in MY day, we just got stuck in the middles of games and gave up like normal people. >:I haw haw, I can't believe I played Monkey Island when it was new.

Speaking of, I am of course still planning my Monkey Island tribute full-sleeve/half-sleeve (undecided yet). My mother thinks that I'm a tad bit insane for wanting to get tattooed with old school Lucasarts stuff, but she approves overall. I am still TOTALLY STOKED on it.

Wheee.

Oh, we got Mimiron down in Ulduar 25 last week. I was worried because of all the horrible things I had heard and CALL ME CRAZY but I didn't find it really stressful or difficult to heal. That's probably because we have rockin' healers and don't carry one another at all. We were all within 4% of healing done of one another or something like that, so yay us. Rah rah rah, go team.

Now this week he was nerfed so we went back and got him right away, lol.

HI I'M WORLD OF WARCRAFT I'M P EASY DERP DERP

Anyways. Dave is in Lansing overnight for work and I misses him. :( :( :( I was supposed to go, but I was up until like 8am to see him off for his promotion interview at the Grand Rapids office this morning (cross your fingers for us!), and then I packed clothes so we could dash out to Lansing when he came to pick me up and then FELL ASLEEP.

And missed all of his calls to let him into the apartment.

So he had to go without me.

And without the clothes. :(

Bawww.

Yeah but whatever, I had a huge migraine anyways. Boo. And I'm making rice now because that's all I have to eat in the house and I'M STRAVING AND THINK ITS READY SO HOLY SHIT GTG.

Edit: LISA JUST SHOWED ME THIS AND I AM BLOWN AWAY djkhghaklg. HOW HOW HOW.

Ugh, I've been staying up way too late for my own good. It makes me all groggy the next day and it's totally awful. I'm gonna make myself a little breakfast (haha, at half past noon) after this and see if I can kick this gross feeling. I have some stuff to do around the apartment, so I hope so.

Not gonna lie, the husband and I have started playing WoW again. Not gonna lie, Wrath of the Lich King is the best thing that's happened to the game and I love Blizzard so much right now. Slight downside is that I hear that the raid content is so easy that a caveman could do it, but I don't care too much about that because it'll still be fun and we're looking forward to it. Everything in Northrend is gorgeous. My troll holy priest Zalzihar is halfway through 79, and he should hit 80 tonight after Dave gets home from work and can quest with me. :D

The cinematic that played at the Wrath Gate after finishing the quests in Dragonblight and the quest chain that came of it was particularly awesome, and I'M NOT GONNA LIE that Forsaken guy's voice is the best thing ever and I can't stop watching, haha. Hey, I haven't had a nerdgasm of such proportions in a while - allow me my simple pleasures. :'( The only real downer (lol, or not) is that it doesn't make much sense that your character doesn't fight and die there because they're literally standing right by Saurfang the Younger as he rides down and gets bitchslapped to death by Arthas. It's like 'Oh you and this entire camp is gonna go fight now? Don't mind me, I'll just stand here on this cliff side and watch." DERP DERP DERP. GG, Zalzihar.

BUT HSDFKAKHAJKLHFSF I'm STOKED about the coup in Undercity and all of that. IT'S TOO MUCH AWESOME I CAN'T HANDLE IT. I want to see what that quest line is like from the Alliance perspective. My dwarf rogue, Doll, is level 77 and already long 'finished' Dragonblight. It's obvious I missed a quest chain leading to this somewhere, but I can't figure it out. UGH LAME.

I totally have to use my Stan icon for this post. It's completely appropriate.

Also,

I got married! :D
three-headed monkey
[info]allisondawn
For a Friday the 13th wedding, there sure wasn't any bad luck! :)

A courthouse wedding was the right thing for us. I don't like crowds or being the center of attention, so the whole "five people there, takes seriously less than five minutes" thing was very much awesome. It definitely wasn't bland, though. It was sweet and perfect.

At the courthouse, just after saying our vows and exchanging rings.

Outside of the courthouse afterward. OH GOD WHAT HAVE WE GOTTEN OURSELVES INTO.
THIS MUST BE SOME SORT OF SIGN.

David is a happy man.

Happy Friday the 13th!

MARRIAGE AND WIFE SWAP!
three-headed monkey
[info]allisondawn
I'M GETTING MARRIED TOMORROW! I'M SO 'CITED! :D

It's just a courthouse wedding, but I won't lie: I bought a dress. I won't be super fancied up or anything, but I will get pictures for everyone. Whoosh, whoosh! I need to bleach my roots today. Yay.

I am celebrating today by watching more WIFE SWAP! WHEE. This episode is so painfully bad that this guy is getting hailed as the worst husband in the world and there is even a popular blog dedicated to him.

I mean, seriously. The family from the mid-west is pretty stupid, but this guy's ego makes me want to punch him in the nads.

Since my last WIFE SWAP post was so well received, I've decided to share this episode with you, as well. I've only ever seen these two episodes of the show, and have since come to the conclusion that it is AWESOME.

The second-hand embarrassment is almost too much to bear. Almost.

:D :D :D :D :D!

I'm getting married in 10 DAYS, whoop whoop! I'm super excited.

Yayyy, courthouse wedding! I've never really been into the idea of a "big, fancy wedding", so this is all I could ever ask for. Just me, my David, his parents, and a judge. No flowers, no expensive centerpieces, no $5000 photographer, no friggin' religion: just us. Just how we want it.

And yes, our wedding day is Friday the 13th. And yes, that is AWESOME.

Also, my soup turned out great!

Soup, immigration, marriage, and nights out on the town.

[info]allisondawn
SOUP!

Whee. I'm making soup today. A huge batch. This is exciting because I've never made soup before in my life and yes. It's a huge batch, and I am optimistic... even though I forgot to buy green onions at the market yesterday. Boo.

I'm putting my impromptu recipe list here as I go, just in case it turns out well and I want to have another go at it down the road. The base tastes pretty good thus far.

- Two 46 fl oz (1.36 liter) cans of vegetable juice, half a can of water
- Dashes of pepper, garlic salt and soy sauce to taste
- 2 lbs (Edit: I've decided to just use one and save the rest in the freezer for next time) extra lean ground beef for meatballs
- Vegetables (I used two finely chopped onions, a head each of cauliflower and broccoli, two large carrots, and about two cups of chopped celery)

I'm gonna slow-cook this sucker all day. Wish me luck!

IMMIGRATION!

David and I spoke to our lawyer yesterday, about the possibility of getting me status in the US. Apparently, calling me an "illegal immigrant" would be faulty, since I'm more technically an "overstay" who got into the country legally. I can appeal to adjust my status here and get a green card once David and I are married.

... & MARRIAGE!

Which will actually be soon. Very soon. In fact, more than likely within the next two weeks. David called Kent county about a foreign national getting a marriage license here, and they've apparently given the go ahead. All I really need to do is go in and sign an affidavit and away we go.

After we're married we need to prove that it's a legitimate relationship, not just one to get me into the US for unrelated reasons. We have photos of the last two years, testimony from friends and family, and I've been thinking of making a video submission to them about our home life, hobbies, cats, us and our goals. There are also interviews to assess this. Apparently some interviewers are easy, some are less so. We hope to get lucky and have less hassle to deal with... but at the same point it shouldn't be too difficult to prove that we're legit. We very much are.

Wish us luck!

NIGHTS OUT!

David and I have been having a total blast in the last week. It's not cheap (neither are immigration lawyer fees, lol), but we've been doing dinner out with friends and co-workers for the past few days. It feels good to do some socializing.

Thursday we went with Mark and Lloyd to this little deli/cafe called Marie Catrib's. It has a lot of really good vegan food, and I had a HUGE sandwich called "The Handyman" - it had fried tofu, spicy roasted potatoes, roasted red peppers, avocado, and some kind of garlic paste on whole wheat bread. It was messy, but delicious. Mucho nomnoms. Mark got everyone a round of all natural grape sodas, too. That was pretty rad.

On Friday we did a Japanese hibachi restaurant with Mark (again!), Lydia, and another woman who's name I can't remember for the life of me. Gosh, am I ever horrible about names. Anyways, it's one of those restaurants where each table has it's own chef that does little tricks and cooks your food right in front of you. It was my first time and it was a BLAST. Our chef kept squirting fake ketchup at me (it was actually string in a bottle) and it freaked me out every single time. The food was amazing, too. Dave and I had the chicken, but the chef would give extras of everything else around the table and I've gotta say - the shrimp is killer awesome. I'm definitely hoping we can go again sometime... I had a chichi and a fizzy navel and oh man, it had been so long since I had a fruity girlie drink. I was in heaven.

Aaaand, Saturday! We met Jason and Katie at their studio apartment downtown, had some cider, and walked down to the Black Rose - an Irish pub. After the cider I had a cosmopolitan at the pub and was fuzzy and happy (with rosy cheeks!) for the rest of the evening because I am such a godawful lightweight. Anyhow, Jason and Katie are awesome. It was back to their place after food, and I don't think we ran out of anything to talk about in the whole 5+ hours we were chillin'. Intelligent discussions about society and religion always interest me, and I think I speak for all four of us when I say we had a great time. They should be coming here sometime soon to watch Hot Fuzz, and it shall be grand.

H'okay! Time to tidy up the kitchen from the vegetable choppin'!

Prayers for Bobby.

This is a fun recipe that I decided to try out for my lovely fiance David's 29th birthday party tomorrow! He had offered to help me with the tootsie roll poop molding this evening, but became grossly disturbed by the undertaking when I decided to take a bite of one.

This is cross-posted to [info]bakebakebake, [info]cat_lovers, and my own personal journal.

Enjoy!
